Our farmers should not face injustice: Santosh Hegde

N Santosh Hegde felicitated the farmers while the actor gave away cheques of Rs 10,000 each to the selected farmers.

BENGALURU: Cine artist Kichcha Sudeep on Wednesday clarified that he had no plans to enter the political arena, after rumours spread across media that he had met CM Siddaramaiah earlier this week.

He was speaking at an event held in the city to raise agrarian awareness and to honour progressive farmers from across the state for their tireless contributions to the sector.

Unveiling a logo ‘Let's remember farmers in every bite of food,’ under the banner of We Respect Farmers Trust, Sudeep elaborated that one needs to have concern for the farmers, garner mutual respect and understand their problems in order to solve their problems.

“Orating on stages will do nothing towards their welfare, but taking a step forward to identify their conditions and then planning out solutions is essential. Selling one of my luxury cars to donate money to the Trust is what I can do at the moment and I will do that,” he said.

Former Supreme Court judge N. Santosh Hegde felicitated the farmers while the actor gave away cheques of Rs 10,000 each to the selected farmers.

Reflecting upon the society’s forgetfulness towards the agrarian community, Justice Hedge said, ”Our annadaatas are extremely important and they should not be subjected to unfair pricing and other injustices.” He further requested the farmer brethren to refrain from taking unnecessary loans especially for marriages as it puts their professional lives at stake.

The yellow and black logo launched at the event bears the image of a farmer ploughing the field with a pair of cattle along with the message, “Let’s remember farmers in every bite of food” in English and Kannada.
