KOCHI: Niranjana M of Savio HSS, Devagiri, Kozhikode, a state aided school, has topped the Regional Mathematical Olympiad organised by Department of Mathematics, Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) and sponsored by National Board for Higher Mathematics (Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India). Rohit Robin (Assissi Vidyanikethan School, Kakkanad), Navin S. John and Sai S. Kalyan (K.E. English Medium School, Mannanam ) and P.C. Rohith (Saraswathi Vidyanikethan Public School, Elamakkara) have also been selected for the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) sponsored cash awards, Prof. CS Venkataraman memorial prizes and Prof. WH Abdi memorial prizes.
“They will be awarded in the merit evening to be held in January 2018 at the Department of Mathematics, Cusat. Ms. Niranjana is a participant of the ‘NuMats – Nurturing Maths Talents project of SCERT. She is the first one to bag Regional Mathematical Olympiad from the state stream,” said Prof A. Vijayakumar, Department of Mathematics, Cusat.
Thirty more students have been selected for participation in the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad to be held in Cusat in January 2018. They are Hari Ganesh V, K. (Providence Girls HSS, Calicut), Ammu Mariam Anil (Rajagiri Public School, Kalamassery), Adithya B. Somaraj, Namitha S. Nair, Abhishek Sarith, Pallavi Kaloor, Aditya Raj, Samreen Sathar, Abhirami R, Niranjan Neelakantan, (Saraswathi Vidyanikethan Public School, Elamakkara), Siddharth B, Sherin Benny, Reniya Susan Rajesh, Sourav Sukumaran (St Antony’s Public School Anakkal) Unnikrishnan Pradeep (Vidyodaya School, Thevakkal), S.
