CM grants Rs 1 crore solatium to slain policeman from Tamil Nadu

He announced a sum of Rs 1 lakh to each of them and added that the government will bear their medical expenses.

Chennai: The Inspector's body is expected to reach the City late on Wednesday night or by Thursday morning by air after which it will be transported to his native village in Tirunelveli district. Joint Commissioner (West) Santosh Kumar is already in Rajasthan to facilitate the proceedings.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy expressed his condolences to the bereaved family members and has ordered a solatium of Rs.1 crore to Inspector Periyapandian's family. "The state will take care of the educational expenses of the slain Inspector's two sons too," a statement read.

The chief minister also prayed for the recovery of other policemen who sustained injuries in the incident- Kolathur inspector Munisekar and three other police personnel-Ambrose, Gurumurthy and Sudharsan.
