Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad gets female Bengal tiger

The animals brought from the Nandankanan Zoo have been kept in quarantine and will be on display after 45 days.

Hyderabad: The city’s Nehru Zoological Park received a female Bengal tiger, a female mouse deer, a male and two female water monitor lizards from the Nandankanan Zoological Park, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.

The bounty also included 10 male and 10 female Java sparrows, 10 male and 10 female Zebra finch, a male and a female Golden Pheasant

While the water monitor lizards and Java sparrows were new species added to the zoo, the other animals were taken in exchange as part of introduction of new blood lines.

In exchange, the Hyderabad zoo gave several animals including a male Bengal tiger, five male and two female mouse deer, a male and a female White peafowl, two male and three female red jungle fowl, two male and two female painted storks and two male and three female crocodiles.

The animals brought from the Nandankanan Zoo have been kept in quarantine and will be on display after 45 days.
