Bengaluru: Rowdy towing boys attack, injure biker
Bengaluru: Workers attached to a towing vehicle, contracted by the traffic police to take away vehicles parked in no-parking zones, attacked a bike rider when he questioned them as to why they were collecting the fines instead of the traffic police officer concerned.
The victim, Mr Kiran Murthy, a private company employee, was attacked by the towing vehicle workers and he sustained bleeding head injuries.
Mr Murthy’s two-wheeler was towed away by the RT Nagar traffic police from a no-parking area near Baptist Hospital. When Mr Murthy reached the spot where they park all the towed-away vehicles, the towing boys asked him to pay Rs 1,600.
As he paid the fine amount, he also noticed that the machine used to print out the traffic fine challans, which was supposed to be with the traffic police officer, was being handled by one of the towing boys.
When Mr Murthy questioned him, the towing boy hit him in the face and boxed him in the ear. He was joined by other workers, who beat up Mr Murthy and also tore his shirt, Mr Murthy complained. Mr Murthy, who made a video describing the attack on him, posted it online asking the senior police officers to take action against the culprits. The police were yet to respond to the post on action taken against the hooligans.
