VIP movement disrupts Bengaluru's traffic

But a senior police officer claimed that there was no big traffic jam reported.

Bengaluru: Traffic jams were reported on stretches leading to Outer Ring Road because of the movement of VIPs, who were in the city to pay their last respects to Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar who passed away early on Monday morning.

Mahadevapura, Marathahalli, HAL, Whitefield, Tubarahalli, Varthur and Hebbal were hit the most. In South Bengaluru, traffic flow was affected from 10 am till late afternoon.

Ms Geetha, who got stuck in a traffic jam near Kadubesanahalli around 11.30 am, said, "There was no one to man the traffic. It was chaotic. I took a U-turn and headed back home."

But a senior police officer claimed that there was no big traffic jam reported. "Traffic flowed freely at Corporation Circle, Malleswaram and Basavangudi. However, the roads leading to HAL did experience congestion."

A few people took to the social media site and vented their disappointment over bad traffic management by the police on such a crucial day.
