Hyderabad: Supporters of ticket aspirants in the Telangana Rashtra Samiti and Telugu Desam parties created a ruckus in front of their respective party offices on Tuesday.
An attempt to commit suicide by one of the followers of Movva Satyanarayana, aspirant to contest on the TD ticket from Serilingampally constituency, was averted at the NTR Trust Bhavan of the city.
The Serilingampally segment had gone in favour of the TD as a seat sharing arrangement between the TD and the Congress. The TD had announced the name of Bhavya Anand Prasad but Satyanarayana, who is the constituency in charge of the TD, had asked for the party ticket.
A group of his followers who reached the NTR Trust Bhavan started a protest by raising slogans. Meanwhile, one of the followers poured petrol on himself and tried to set himself ablaze but other followers and the police averted the attempt.
On the other side at Telangana Bhavan, Manne Goverdhan Reddy, aspirant for the TRS ticket for the Khairatabad staged a protest along with his followers. Some of his supporters climbed the tower near TRS Bhavan demanding the ticket for Govardhan Reddy. The police persuaded them to get down from the tower.
When the police tried to remove them, the supporters got into a scuffle with the police and in the melee, Govardhan Reddy fell down claiming a heart attack and was taken to a private hospital.
