Rebel' Congress leaders meet with cadres

TPCC star campaigner Vijayashanti said that it is not correct to say that the Congress did not allot a ticket to her.

Hyderabad: Aggrieved at not being on the first list of candidates for Assembly seats released on Monday, several party leaders are quitting the party and some have announced they will contest as rebel candidates.

Former Union minister Renuka Chowdary has said everyone should work hard for the victory of the Mahakutami.

TPCC star campaigner Vijayashanti said that it is not correct to say that the Congress did not allot a ticket to her.

The Congress high command had asked her to contest the Assembly elections but since she was appointed a star campaigner, she could not also contest the election.

Other Congress leaders were very angry with the party for denying them tickets. They are holding meetings with their followers to decide their future course of action. Some of them are thinking of leaving the party. Former MLA Narayana Rao has resigned, expressing his displeasure at the Tandur ticket going to Rohith Reddy.

In Warangal district, Naini Rajendar Reddy was expecting the ticket for Warangal West, but with the seat adjustment, Warangal West was allotted to the Telugu Desam and former MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy has got the TD ticket.

Rajendar Reddy is a strong candidate and is thinking of contesting as a rebel.

The Serilimgampally Assembly seat was also allotted to the TD and industrialist Bhavya Anand Prasad has been named the TD candidate. Bhikshapathi Yadav of the Congress announced that he will contest as an independent candidate if the Congress does not rethink its decision.

He said he has been campaigning in the constituency for the last one month on the directive of his party but at the last minute the seat was allotted to the TD.

Telangana NSUI (National Students Union of India) president B. Venkat has announced his resignation from the Congress. He aspired to the Peddapalli Assembly seat which was given to Vijaya Ramana Rao who joined the Congress after abandoning the TD, along with A. Revanth Reddy.
