Hyderabad: An eight-year-old boy was reportedly sodomised by a 33-year-old man at Chandrayangutta on Monday.
The police have formed special teams to apprehend the accused, a daily wager, who is absconding.
The incident took place on Monday morning when the victim, a Class II student, accompanied his father, who supplied milk packets in the neighbourhood at Hashamabad.
When his father was busy visiting the houses to deliver the packets, the boy stayed back on the road playing. One Mohammed Ilahi, 33, a resident of the same area noticed the boy and took him aside on the pretext of buying him kites and sexually assaulted the kid.
“The accused Ilahi took the boy onto the terrace of an old building where he sodomised the child,” said Chandrayangutta inspector Mr G. Koteshwar Rao.
“The boy’s father who went on searching for his missing son found him in an empty lane and questioned him, only to find out about the sexual assault,” Mr Rao added.
The inspector said that the boy was sent for medical examination following a complaint from his father and then to Bharosa Centre for counselling.
Teams have been formed to apprehend the accused, who has been absconding since the offence on Monday, he said.
