Critical polling stations up from 2014 polls

Out of the 3,826 polling stations in Hyderabad district, at least one third stations will be under the watch of state election commission.

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has as many as 1,290 critical polling stations out of a total of 3,826 in 15 Assembly constituencies in Hyderabad district. The number of ‘critical’ polling stations has gone up from 1,184 in the 2014 Assembly elections to 1,290 this year.

Out of the 3,826 polling stations in Hyderabad district, at least one third stations will be under the watch of the state election commission for any law and order problems during the upcoming Assembly polls.

Most of these stations fall in the old city area covering Charminar (162), Chandrayangutta (162), Yakuthpura (170), Bahadrapura (131) constituencies along with Jubilee Hills of the new city which has 103 critical polling booths.

A senior GHMC official said that critical polling centres were identified based on incidents of violation of the model code of conduct and also the localities where violent incidents or law and order issues arose during the 2014 general elections.
