Alappuzha: KPMS warns regressive forces

\"In this attempt to enforce the court order, the government will taste victory undoubtedly.

Alappuzha: The place of people who don't support renaissance movements, propagating anti-progress views for bringing back social evils will be in the dustbin of history, Kerala Pulaya Maha Sabha (KPMS) general secretary Punnala Sreekumar has said.

Addressing a gathering at Kidangamparambu temple ground here to commemorate the 82nd anniversary of temple entry proclamation on Monday, he said that government was trying to take the spirit of renaissance forward instead of just implementing the court verdict.

"In this attempt to enforce the court order, the government will taste victory undoubtedly. We can’t correct leaders of organisations who know everything about the Kerala history. It’s essential to discuss history in Kerala. For that, debates should be taken forward," he said.

"The temples were cornerstones of social life. In spite of worship centres, temples were centres of education, art and literature. Circle of life of human beings completes through religion, art and science. The Hindu religion doesn’t have a prophet. Advaita Sasthram of Sankaracharya, the superior text of Hindu dharma, defines a single Brahma."

He said the protests started from the same Pandalam where Arattupuzha Velayudha Panicker organised a revolt against upper castes who attacked Avarna women wearing mookuthi (nose stud).

"This is the irony of history. The fight for entry of women to Sabarimala is being carried out by people who are having a tradition of the Renaissance. So all democrats should come forward to lead the light forward," he said.
