Trial run of free supply successful: K Chandrasekhar Rao
Mr Rao stated that the trial run of 24x7 power supply was held successfully in all districts over the past one week.
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced on Monday that from January 1, 2018, free power will be supplied 24x7 to the agriculture sector all over the state. He said the subsidy burden on account of 24x7 free power to over 23 lakh agriculture pump sets will increase from Rs 4,777 crore to Rs 5,384 crore per year but the TRS government was ready to bear it.
Mr Rao stated that the trial run of 24x7 power supply was held successfully in all districts over the past one week and helped assess the power demand and the loopholes in the transmission and distribution network. It was found that the peak power demand would increase to 11,000 MW by April/May, but power utilities have made arrangements to meet this demand.
