Bengaluru: Film fest, sports meet for Children's Day today.
Bengaluru: Various individuals and organisations will celebrate Children’s Day on Tuesday with offline and online events at various places across the city. An International Kids Film Festival (IKFFI) is being hosted by different schools in the city, which is part of a nationwide festival. It will screen films from over 25 countries. According to the organisers, the festival aims to equip students with content and context to identify intangibles of the modern day society, enhancing education outside textbooks, etc.
The festival is jointly organised by LXL Ideas, an education consultant platform, in collaboration with the French Embassy, Culture House of Iran and Children’s Film Festival, Seattle. The celebrations began a day earlier for over 150 visually impaired kids in the city as they got together to play chess, recite poetry and showcase their talent on Monday. The ‘Ability Children’s Festival’, hosted at Sankara Eye Hospital, was supported by Young Indians, which is part of the Confederation of Indian Industry, and Surya For Life, a city-based NGO. As many as 75 children performed. Various organisations from the city pledged to work towards an inclusive society. Child athletes from four different government schools will sweat it out on Tuesday at the playgrounds at an interschool sports meet organised by C. Krishniah Chetty Foundation. Children, teachers and staff members of the Government Urdu, Tamil and Kannada Schools located at Jogupalya and Dasarahalli will take part in the sports meet.
