Telangana officials working on fee rules

Hyderabad School Parents Association (HSPA) was consulted by the education department on the issue.

Hyderabad: After parents’ outcry against indiscriminate fee collection in private schools, the Telangana education department is working on fee regulatory mechanism to tackle the issue.

Authorities are considering fixing a threshold limit for fees in private schools in urban and rural areas. Schools that intend to charge higher fees should get clearance from the District Fee Regulatory Panel which will look into annual expenditure and additional facilities and infrastructure there.

This practice is being followed by AFRC (Admission Fee Regulatory Committee) responsible for fixing fee structure for all professional colleges including engineering and medical colleges every three years.

Hyderabad School Parents Association (HSPA) was consulted by the education department on the issue.

Meanwhile, the education department will be cracking a whip against CBSE schools that are found to flout rules.
