Telangana: Group-II again tests writers' GK

The situation is opposite for candidates who depended mostly on materials from coaching centres and reference books.

Hyderabad: Questions about former Chief Minister YSR, TJAC chairman M. Kodandaram, Balladeer Vimalakka, Dusharla Satyanarayana (fighting against fluoride problem in Nalgonda) as well as Million March, Amaraveerula Stupam, AP Reorganisation Act, Irrigation and Agriculture in Telangana, T-Hub, TS-iPass tested the skills of candidates who appeared for papers-3 and 4 of Group-II exams held across the state on Sunday.

The attendance recorded was 63 per cent, almost similar to the 65 per cent seen for first two papers held on Friday. Questions relating to YSR were about his comment during the electioneering in the 2009 when he said visa would be required to travel to Hyderabad if the state was divided. Candidates were asked about teaching specialisation of TJAC chairman in OU, and the institution that is hosting the T-Hub building, and who was the sculptor of Amara-veerula Stupam etc.

Interestingly, there were no direct questions about chief minister Chandrashekara Rao. One question was about the name of SHRC (State Human Rights Commission), who directed authorities to administer saline when he took up an indefinite fast in 2009.

TSPSC secretary Parvathi Subramanian said the exam went off peacefully without any incident. The Group-II test was held in 1916 exam centres spread over 31 districts.

Subject expert Mohammed Riaz said that candidates who kept abreast of the developments in Telangana, the statehood agitation, those with social consciousness and awareness are bound to excel in this test.

The situation is opposite for candidates who depended mostly on materials from coaching centres and reference books. Rajnikanth D, a private employee from Patancheru, felt that the Group-II test was moderate and candidates with daily news reading habit for last few years will have an edge over others.

Nearly 5 lakh candidates wrote the test for 1,032 vacancies in various departments like commercial taxes, panchayat raj, muncipal administration, excise etc.
