Hyderabad: Cops face music for Virat Kohli selfie
Hyderabad: Three policemen were suspended by the Rachakonda police after a fan breached security at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal on Friday. Meanwhile, Khan, who was arrested for taking a selfie with Virat Kohli by the Uppal police on Friday, was produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.
The officials placed under suspension were identified as Prabhakar, sub-inspector, Srinu, constable and Narayana, a home guard, who were on duty at the spot from where the fan, Mohammed Khan, sneaked into the ground and reached Kohli on Friday morning.
Rachakonda commissionerate police officials said that the department has taken action against them for being negligent while performing their duties during the match.
Khan was seeing hugging Kohli, despite the latter pushing him away. He also took a selfie with Kohli before the security personnel could take him away.
Uppal inspector P. Venkateswarlu said that based on a complaint from the Hyderabad Cricket Association, a case ahs been booked against Khan under Section 351, 448 and 506 of IPC. This was the second such incident in the series after Kohli was surrounded by fans in the middle of the first test in Rajkot last week.
