The event was a perfect opportunity for children to be part of the tribute and the success of the new record, he noted.

Coimbatore: To pay tributes to former president late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, corporate house ‘Asian Paints’ organised an event at the Fun Republic Mall in the city on Saturday. More than 1,000 children from schools from in and around Coimbatore participated in an event to color a life-size portrait of Dr Kalam, whose birth anniversary falls on October 15.

This initiative helped to etch a new Guinness World Record and has found a place in the Asian Book of Records for ‘Ennangalilum, Vannangalilum Kalam’ for having more than 1,000 school students simultaneously coloring a life size impression of Dr Abdul Kalam under one roof.

Mr. A.P.J.M.J Sheik Saleem and Mr. A.P.J.M.J Sheik Dawood, grandnephews of the late president and members of the ‘APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation’ also participated in the event.

Commenting on the homage, Mr. Amit Syngle, COO, Asian Paints said, “Dr Abdul Kalam will continue to be an unyielding source of inspiration for the youth. It has been an honor to collaborate with APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation for ‘Ennangalilum, Vannangalilum Kalam’ to create a record for the largest impression of the revered Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. We are pleased to commemorate the ‘People’s President’ with this initiative for his 87th birth anniversary,” he said.
