Telangana: Family needs assistance to survive
Warangal: A family in Etukalapalli of Narsampet mandal in Warangal Rural district is struggling to survive and is waiting for state help.
At present, Burra Sunitha and her children Sravan and Sravanthi are living on the generosity of their well-wishers; even their relatives have abandoned them. While Sunitha’s husband succumbed to dengue eight years ago; her 22-year-old son Sravan was suddenly affected by nervous weakness and lost his hearing and his legs have gone numb when he was 14. Sravanthi was affected by polio and cannot walk. She is also mentally challenged.
The family is hardly able to survive with the disability pension and widow pension they receive. A major part of this money is spent on medicines that keep them alive. If not for the childhood friends, the family is helpless.
Moved by their plight, some donate rice, pay the electricity bill and help them complete daily chores. They even raised money to help them with a recent medical emergency.
“They have sold their one acre land to meet the expenses incurred in a bid to revive the health of Sravan but he did not get any better. Their plight is unimaginable,” said Deshini Manoj, a well-wisher.
“To earn some extra money, they invested in a small shop selling petty items. But the income is not much and there is no one to help them restock. The mother cannot leave the children alone and go to work anywhere. Her daughter cannot stay without seeing her mother. She cries a lot due to her mental condition,” he added.
The villagers said the family has appealed to the authorities many times for monetary help or to provide a tricycle but no one has come forward to help.
The family is seeking help from philanthropists who can help them in any way they can afford to. Interested philanthropists can call Sravan’s friend Manoj on +91 8466829218.
