Karnataka Home Minister on Tipu jayanti event: It will happen this year too
Close on the heels of Kodagu Zilla Panchayat passing a resolution to ban celebration of Tipu Jayanti, Home minister, R. Ramalinga Reddy on Friday stated that the state government will surely hold Tipu Jayanti celebrations across the state.
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Mr Reddy said, "At present I do not have accurate information about the Kodagu Zilla Panchayat's decision. Tipu Jayanti being a government programme, we will surely organise it across the state without succumbing to such threats."
He added that the state home department was better equipped to organise Tipu Jayanti in a peaceful manner.
Training his guns on the BJP, Mr Reddy charged that the ruling Congress need not learn lessons on administering the city from them as their record of governing Bengaluru is already known to everyone. "They (BJP) have a very pathetic record of governing the city. It was during their tenure that the Garden City, Bengaluru, turned into a Garbage City. At least our record of administering the city is far better than theirs," he quipped.
