Hyderabad: Cops help Irani hotel for parking, claim residents
Hyderabad: Residents of Shantinagar Colony at Masab Tank have complained that an Irani tea stall owner has fenced off a part of the colony land for his customers to park their vehicles, even when there is no provision for it. They claim that even the police have sided with him.
Mr Ashwin Kumar, president of the Shanthinagar Residents' Welfare Association, said, “It is over a month since the traffic department (Masab Tank division) set up the parking poles, helping the owner. When I complained to the circle inspector, traffic, he said poles had been installed so that parking was allocated and customers don’t occupy the entire road. The poles occupy part of the road including the turning area. How can this be set up in a residential zone?”
“We have made several complaints to the GHMC and traffic police but the Irani tea outlet continues to operate, causing great difficulty to residents. Many park their bikes on the road, one can find smokers all through the lane. Traffic police is not bothered to fine them for illegal parking.” A sticker has been pasted on a No Parking board in the Colony so that the sign is obscured.
