Hyderabad: The murder of a businessman last Tuesday at Shivarampally has been solved by the Rajendranagar police, who announced the arrest of seven persons in connection with the crime.

According to the police, the seven men were directly involved in the killing of Mohammad Jaweed, a businessman. The prime accused, 36-year-old Syed Irfan, ran a footwear shop and used to operate a chit fund. He owed Rs 5 lakh to a woman who was known to Jaweed.

Irfan, who was under pressure from Jaweed to repay the woman, had made a payment of `3 lakh but said he could not repay the balance as his business had suffered a loss following a fire in his shop.

When Jaweed did not relent, Irfan planned to have Jaweed killed, the police said.

On Tuesday night, Irfan, accompanied by six others, went to Aramgarh Road where Jaweed was getting his vehicle repaired. There they attacked Jaweed with sharp weapons and killed him, the police said.

All the seven accused were arrested on Sunday and remanded to custody. Six others, in addition to Irfan who were arrested are Mohammed Attaullah, 23, an accused in a previous murder case, Mohd Waseem, 24, Ashraf Ali, 21, Kishan Rao, 24, Shaik Khaled, 23, and Mohd Ziauddin, 24, the police said.
