Chennai: Two held for selling drugs to school kids

48 tablets, eight packets of ganja seized.

Chennai: The city police arrested two peddlers for selling drugs to school students in Nazarethpuram near Alandur on Thursday night.

On Thursday night, cops arrested R.Kamesh (22) of St Thomas Mount and Srinath (21) for trying to sell narcotics in the area.

Cops were on alert for the last few days, following inputs that a drug racket had become active in the area and that peddlers were trying to sell drugs to students and youths.

During searches, police found they were selling ecstasy tablets for Rs 300. They seized 48 tablets, eight packets of ganja and five sim cards from the men. The men had also marijuana, tidal ecstasy tablets and other tobacco items.

During interrogation, they confessed to selling drugs to students. The duo said they had placed order the tablets online.

Police said the duo told students that the tablets will increase their memory power. However, parents suspected it to be illegal drugs and alerted police They were arrested, produced in Aalandur court and lodged in prison.
