Hyderabad: City water board managing director M. Dana Kishore on Wednesday said that new water connections will be approved within five days after an application is submitted.
“A mobile app will be designed by HMWS&SB IT wing to build a hassle free system for processing applications submitted for water connections. These applications will be captured by a field officer and an integrated officer. The mobile app will help the field officers in speedy disposal of files in a transparent manner,” said Mr M. Dana Kishore, HMWS&SB managing director.
The road cutting charges for giving water connections to below poverty line families will be borne by the board.
Mr Kishore would also review the delegation of the powers to sanction water supply connections and will be redelegated to section level officers.
“Stringent action will be initiated against defaulting consumers. It has been observed that lack of silt chambers is the main problem for sewerage overflowing. It is estimated that around 4,500 to 5,000 commercial consumers are not having silt chambers like hotels, hospitals, hostels, function halls, shopping malls,” the water board MD explained.
