Osmania University's students forced to cook meals
Hyderabad: About 275 second-year post-graduation students of Arts College in Osmania University are having to cook their own meals as their hostel messes remain shut. It has been two months since the academic year started.
Also, first-year PG students have not been allotted hostel rooms and many of them have been forced to not join the college yet. Private colleges have finished almost half their syllabus. The C Hostel which recently ejected illegal hostellers, to make room for newcomers lies locked, with power and water supply cut.
A major reason for the messes in Arts College hostels to shut down is that contractors who sell groceries, have not been paid. Officials said that in the last two years, Arts College had run up dues of over '1 crore. About 58 per cent of the dues accrued in 2005-14 was supposed to be reimbursed by the state government.
