Hyderguda gets 4 cm heavy rainfall on Tuesday
Hyderabad: Heavy rain occurred at most places across the state on Tuesday. Devarakonda of Nalgonda received 9 cm, followed by Miryalaguda in the same district at 7 cm.
Till September 15, the Met department has warned of heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places all over the state. For Wednesday, generally cloudy skies with few spells of rain or thundershowers are predicted for Hyderabad. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 27ºC and 20ºC.
In the city, Hyderguda received the maximum rain at 4 cm. There was quite a lot of damage in the city thanks to the rains. The roof of an old building behind Swathi Tiffins collapsed, injuring two pedestrians.
The western parts of the city, Madhapur, Srinagar Colony and KPHB, received 3 cm rain. As many as 147 complaints of power cuts, trees getting uprooted, water stagnation etc. were lodged with the GHMC. Many roads were waterlogged and Hotel Ruman at Tolichowki was flooded.
GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy instructed staff to evacuate people living in dilapidated buildings. Mr Keshav K. of Kukatpally said, “It rained heavily on Monday night and continued to drizzle for hours thereafter. It again increased around noon.
An old tree fell near the Central Crime Station office, Lakdikapul, blocking the stretch for hours. There were similar situations at LB Nagar and Khairatabad.
The entry and exit of the Tolichowki flyover were flooded and water entered nearby colonies.
The water level at Osmansagar stood at 1,759.85 feet against its full level of 1,790 feet. Officials said that if the level reaches 1,770 feet, supplies to the city can begin. On the same day last year, water stood at 1,756 feet, three feet lower than this year.
The inflows into Himayatsagar were very less. The water stood at 1,728 feet while the full level of the lake is 1,763 feet.
