Dehradun Defence College Building Collapses Due to Incessant Rain
Amid incessant rainfall, the Dehradun Defence College building collapsed in Maldevta district on Monday.
The India Meteorological department (IMD) issued a red alert for heavy rains in six districts of the hill state.
As many as 60 people died and 17 were missing due to rains, which also affected normal life in Uttarakhand.
The continuous downpour triggered landslides, leading to traffic snarls even on national highways.
The Rishikesh-Chamba NH was blocked for traffic due to a landslide near Kunjapuri Bagardhar in Tehri and the movement of traffic was stopped on the Rishikesh-Devprayag-Srinagar NH at Sakhnidhar.
Also, more than 1,160 houses were damaged, along with crop in agricultural lands. Roads and bridges were also damaged due to the rains.
