BJP has no page in history of India’s freedom: Congress
WARANGAL: BJP leaders have not a single page in the history of freedom struggle. But they are now running a nationwide campaign as though they brought freedom to the country, observed Congress party Parakal assembly segment coordinator E. Venkatram Reddy.
Participating in the Azadi Ki Gaurav Yatra organised under the leadership of Warangal district Congress unit president N. Rajendar Reddy at Ogulapur on Saturday, Venkatram Reddy accused BJP of distorting the history of freedom struggle using the name of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who participated in the freedom struggle under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi.
The Congress leader said from 1885 to 1947, Congress led several movements and the BJP or its predecessors were not involved in any of them. By leading movements like Satyagraha, non-cooperation and Quit-India, Congress got rid of British rule. Thus, Congress is the only party with right to celebrate India’s 75 years of Independence.
Venkatram Reddy said BJP is trying to malign the great history of India by killing democracy in the country and adopting anti-people and anti-farmer policies. Congress party will not sit quiet and give a fitting reply to the BJP by exposing it in the public arena, he remarked.
Azadi Ki Gaurav Yatra being taken out by Congress throughout India is part of this, he added.
