We’ll face it together, state is with you: Pinarayi Vijayan

Pinarayi visits landslide sites in Kavalappara, Puthumala.

KOZHIKODE: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has assured the government's support to the landslide victims and said, "We will face the situation unitedly."

Addressing the inmates of the relief camp at Meppadi, Wayanad, he said that the government was with them in the times of trouble. "Now the government is focusing on rescue works and will take care of rehabilitation when all the issues faced by them would be addressed," he added.

Mr Vijayan visited the landslide sites of Kavalappara in Malappuram district and Puthumala in Wayanad district on Tuesday accompanied by ministers and officials. They landed at the SKMJ School ground in Kalpetta in a helicopter and travelled to the relief camp at Meppadi.

The team also had an aerial view of the disaster before leaving for Bhoodanam in Malappuram district.

Mr Vijayan attended a review meeting of officials at the collectorate where he directed the officials and people's representatives to maintain alert over the relief camps.

"It is time we should inspire the inmates to face life's adversities," he said and suggested that a separate space should be assigned for those who come to meet the inmates. He directed the local administrative bodies to make the houses fit for living before the inmates step in. "Sanitation of all the wells in such areas should be ensured," he said and added that if necessary drinking water should be brought in tankers.

Mr Vijayan who visited the camp at Bhoodanam said the incident at Kavalappara was shocking. "We are through countless woes which we would face together," he added. "When we were struck by the deluge last year, we overcame it together," he told the inmates.
