LDF state panel ratifies decision
Thiruvananthapuram: The LDF state committee decided to discuss the issue of expansion of the ruling front at its next meeting.
The meeting held at the AKG Centre on Monday, ratified CPM decision to induct E.P. Jayarajan in Cabinet. At a press conference here, LDF convener A Vijayaraghavan said the CPI had not sought a fifth minister. The post of chief whip already existed and the constituent parties came to an unanimous opinion it should be revived and allotted to the CPI.
Vijyaraghavhan said the issue was discussed and sorted out amicably. The CPI will finalise its nominee for the chief whip’s post at its state executive meeting to be held here on August 20. The front runners for the post are Mullakara Ratn-akaran, E.S. Bijimol, Chittayam Gopakumar and K. Rajan.
On the expansion of the LDF, the constituent partners had been asked to hold bilateral discussions on the issue. Once a consensus is arrived at between the parties, the issue will be taken up at the LDF state committee.
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijaan apprised the LDF meeting of the steps being taken by the state government and other agencies in the wake of monsoon havoc across the state. He informed the meeting about the ex-tensive damaged caused in the state and the Ce-ntral Government’s resp-onse.
Later LDF convenor appealed to the workers bel-onging to the ruling front to come out and take part in the rescue and relief operations. Besides, he also asked them to donate generously to the chief minister’s relief fund.’
