Hyderabad: Former Union minister and senior leader of Congress in Telangana S. Jaipal Reddy challenged Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to visit Osmania University. Mr Reddy said the students would assault the Chief Minister if he set his foot on the campus.
Speaking at a public meeting organised in Serilingampally on the occasion of AICC president Rahul Gandhi's visit to the city on Monday, Mr Reddy said that the students did not oppose Mr Gandhi's visit to Osmania but only the CM opposed it. Mr Reddy said if Mr Gandhi decided to visit Osmania University nobody could stop him, but the leader desisted from doing so because he believed in democracy.
He said the Chief Minister was not welcome in any university in Telangana state. Mr Reddy also said the Congress was ready to face it if the government decided to hold early elections. He said that in Telangana, the elections were like the war between Rama and Ravana. The CM has hijacked the state which was given to the people of Telangana by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and criticised that Mr Rao has hugged the BJP.
