Heavy bandobast for Independence Day celebrations in Bengaluru
BENGALURU: As many as 1,500 police personnel have been deployed at the Manekshaw Parade Ground ahead of the 72nd Independence Day celebrations on Wednesday. City Police Commissioner T. Suneel Kumar said that the security will include nine deputy commissioners, 16 assistant commissioners, 46 police inspectors, 102 sub-inspectors, 77 assistant sub-inspectors, 540 police constables, 75 women constables and 114 policemen.
He said that apart from 1,500 policemen, nine KSRP platoons, five CAR platoons and two Quick Reaction Teams also been deployed. 56 CCTV cameras, four baggage scanners and weapons detectors have also been put up at the entry points of Parade Ground.
The police have banned people from carrying cigarette, lighters, still cameras, water bottles, eatables, firearms and explosives, helmets, radios and umbrellas to the parade ground. Due to Shortage of Parking place in and around parade ground and to avoid congestion, the people should avail of public transport like BMTC and Metro, the Bengaluru traffic police requested.
