Tamil Nadu: Siblings create history for different feats on same day
Chennai: In a moment of glory, siblings Rithu Varshini and J.P.Rithvik Akash marked their names in the India Book of Records for two different records on Sunday. Actor Arya and writer Rajathi Salma were the chief guests of the event.
While nine-year-old Rithvik solved 15 types of Rubik’s cubes in 13.85 minutes to become the first to solve as many Rubik’s cubes in least time, his sister, Rithu Varshini, in a first of its kind record, preformed 54 Bharatanatyam mudras in 1.16 minutes.
“Usually it takes more than four hours to learn a 3*3 cube, but we were enthralled to see Rithvik learn it in an hour. That was when we realised his potential to try his hands on world records,” said his coach, R. Chandrika.
Rithvik added that he practices for two hours a day and that helped him improve concentration. Previously, Nithilan from Dharshan academy had attempted the record and finished solving 9 cubes in 14.47 seconds.
Within four months, Rithvik from the same academy beat his record.
The father of Rithu and Rithvik said both of them voluntarily chose these fields and strove for excellence. For both of them, this is a first record.
Rajatha Salma, during her speech, emphasised on the need for parents to encourage co-curricular activities, as it is a means to vent out pressure. Actor Arya concurred with her thoughts.
The adjudicator from India Book of Records, Vivek Nair, said 40 per cent of the total world records are from India, of which 20 per cent are from Tamil Nadu. “Numerous people have skills which fade away as unregistered and undocumented records. Awareness must be spread on attempting records to bring more stars to limelight,” he said.
