MCI warns of fake agents from duping parents, kids

The MCI clarified that all the admissions made without the common counselling are illegal.

Hyderabad: All the medical admissions will be based on the common counselling, stated the Medical Council of India (MCI). The council issued this statement following the reports of agents duping students and parents by promising them admissions with counselling.

It has come to the notice of the MCI that unscrupulous elements are misleading students and parents by promising them admissions in the MBBS course in medical colleges. The MCI clarified that all the admissions made without the common counselling are illegal.

While the directorate general of health services in the ministry of health will conduct the counselling for the 15 per cent all India quota and the seats in deemed universities, the designated authority will conduct the counselling for in states, an MCI notice said.

Sri Laxmi, an aspirant’s parent, said, “I am getting calls from the agents who are trying to lure us with the for seat on a daily basis. They are asking Rs 50,000 in advance. But I have fallen into their trap. It is good that MCI has issued a circular warning against these agents. In fact, many parents are not aware of them. So they end up paying money to these agents.”
