KT Rama Rao writes to Ravi Shankar Prasad for ITIR funds
Hyderabad: Telangana IT minister K.T. Rama Rao has sought clarity from the Central government on the pending ITIR (Information Technology Investment Region) project allotted to Hyderabad.
In a letter written to the Union IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Mr Rao highlighted that funds are yet to be released despite the commitment given four years ago.
He explained that detailed project report for ITIR was submitted twice by the state government. For the creation of infrastructure, a financial assistance to the tune of Rs 4,863 crore (Phase-I: Rs 942 crore and Phase-II: Rs 3,921 crore) was sought by the state government and after examining the report the Centre approved sanction of Rs 3,275 crore (Phase-I: Rs 165 crore and Phase-II: Rs 3,110 crore) in 2013.
The project has generated immense interest among both investors and citizens.
However, even after four years, nothing concrete has materialised owing to lack of support from the Union government, the minister highlighted in his letter.
Lack of clarity on the ITIR project from the Union government, is leading to frequent adverse news reports and is creating confusion among the various stakeholders. The Union government may kindly give clarity on the continuation of the ITIR project and also the release of the funds as promised, he urged.
