Bengaluru: 11,000 to witness Independence Day celebration

Siddaramaiah will hoist the Tricolour at 9 am.

Bengaluru: Preparations are on in full swing for the 71st Independent Day celebrations at Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Grounds. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will hoist the Tricolour at 9 am. He will take the guard of honour and deliver his Independence Day speech. This year too, there will be a shower of flower petals from IAF helicopters.

The BBMP, in association with the office of Deputy Commissioner (Bengaluru Urban) and the Bengaluru city police, have made elaborate security arrangements.

BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad said, "All arrangements are in place, including security and disaster control mechanisms. Fifty CCTV cameras have been installed at the venue."

Seating arrangements
Seating arrangements have been made to accommodate 11,000 people, of which 4,000 have been reserved for the public. Rehearsals have been going on at the Parade Grounds for the last few days.

This year, Kerala police will participate in the marchpast, and the National Anthem will be sung by students of Jawahar Navodaya School.

Cultural programmes
Over 2,700 schoolchildren will participate in cultural programmes. Kikkeri Krishnamurthy and team will sing Nadageetha and Raithageethe.

Ambulances, medical and fire and emergency personnel will be deployed at the venue on Tuesday, he said.

People, who head for the celebrations, have been asked not to carry cigarettes, matchboxes, lighters.

Also, sharp objects, black handkerchieves, paper, pamphlets, crackers, cameras, liquor and drugs and water bottles are also prohibited
