Shia body slams Wakf for delay in payments

The shrine is a registered Wakf institution and the celebrations of the Imam are observed every year on behalf of the Wakf Board.

Hyderabad: The Wakf Board did not release funds for the ‘Jashn Kohe Imam Zamin’ at the shrine situated at Ammuguda, which is scheduled to be held on July 16 and 17 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Imam Ali bin Musa Alraza, the eighth Shia Imam.

The shrine is a registered Wakf institution and the celebrations of the Imam are observed every year on behalf of the Wakf Board. The board releases a special fund for conducting various programmes. This year, the Wakf Board did not release funds on time and asked the celebration committees to spend money on their own which would be paid to them later.

All India Shia Organisation president Mir Hadi Ali said that only two days were left for the celebration, but the arrangements for it has started so far. He said Wakf Board officials were not clearing the file pertaining to the celebrations. He alleged that the board did not clear the bills submitted by the organisers for the Jashn Babul Hawayej even after three months.

The organisers had spent the amount for the celebrations on the instance of the Wakf Board chief executive officer.

Mr Ali alleged that Wakf Board officials were diverting the funds of Kohe Imam e Zamin.

He said `1 crore belonging to the institution was spent on the construction of the complex adjacent to the Haj House.
