Anger over roach in doctors' food at Gandhi Hospital

Hyderabad: Junior doctors at Gandhi Hospital were up in arms after a cockroach was found in the food served to them at the doctors’ canteen on Thursday.

Angry doctors took pictures of the cockroach and complained to hospital superintendent Dr. Shravan Kumar.

One junior doctor said, “We have complained time and again and demanded that hygiene be maintained in the canteen, but this is not being done. The cooking area is not kept clean.” The junior doctors also said that there were no surprise inspections and that often the quality of food served by the canteen was not tested.

Superintendent Dr. Kumar, however, merely said he had asked the resident medical officer to carry out an inquiry. “I can give you details only after that”, he said.
