Woman biker Vaishali More embarks on 1,700-km solo ride

Vaishali More, the first woman biker of Visakhapatnam, embarked on her solo motorcycle ride from Visakhapatnam to Shirdi.

Visakhapatnam: Vaishali More, the first woman biker of Visakhapatnam, embarked on her solo motorcycle ride from Visakhapatnam to Shirdi on Wednesday morning amid cheers and best wishes of hundreds of Vizagites. The trip was flagged off in the early hours by the Gurudwara Sadh Sangat president D.S. Anand and chairman of the Rohit Memorial Trust, G. Anantram.
During the 1,700-km ride, which spans Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra, Ms Vaishali will spread awareness on women empowerment and other women’s issues.

She started the first leg of the journey to seek blessings of Shirdi Sai Baba for the proposed Pan-India trip in 2017. The trip is part of the Rohit Memorial Trust’s Women Empowerment initiative — Gyan Lakshmi. “It is a symbol of women empowerment and liberty for me,” said Vaishali More at the flagging off ceremony. This 48-year-old woman of substance has been biking for many years and this trip has been the longest in her biking journey.

She is a part of the 2,500-member strong women community, who are blazing new trails on the roads in India. This solo ride is supported by the Rohit Memorial Trust, which has been a part of many social initiatives, including educating school girls on many important issues including sexual and menstrual hygiene.
