Pakistan ministers to discuss Kashmir

Nawaz Sharif has convened a special Cabinet meeting in Lahore on Friday to discuss “deteriorating situationâ€in the violence-hit Kashmir.

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said the voice and struggle of the people of Kashmir cannot be suppressed through use of ‘brutal force and human rights abuses.’

He has convened a special Cabinet meeting in Lahore on Friday to discuss the “deteriorating situation” in the violence-hit Kashmir and chalk out “future course of action” on the issue.

“The Cabinet will discuss the actions of security forces against innocent civilians and the over all situation in Kashmir after the brutal assassination of Burhan Wani,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

Meanwhile, in Srinagar, as complaints about security forces inflicting atrocities on local population galore, J&K Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, has warned aga-inst ‘excessive’ use of force by them while containing the ongoing turmoil in the Valley.

In a televised message, she while urging the people to cooperate with the government assured them that that action will be taken on security forces for using ‘excessive force’.
