New Delhi: The Government on Wednesday said that a structured examination of the apex court’s order will be carried out while considering that a new dispensation was ruling the state after proving its majority in the assembly.
Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, answering a barrage of questions at a media briefing, at the same time said that the judgement by the apex court was “supreme” and that Government was studying the "implications" of the verdict.
Mr Prasad, who assumed charge of the Law Ministry last week for a second time in the present government, said the Government will go for a detailed examination of the order and “thereafter we can take a call”.
When asked whether the Government will approach the apex court for a review of the verdict, he said “we will have to undertake a very structured examination of the entire direction and thereafter we can take a call.” Mr Prasad said the Government was yet to get a copy of the order.
Supreme Court verdict is deja vu of Uttarakhand
Congress leader Harish Rawat was reinstated on May 11, 2016 as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, over six weeks after he was ousted by the Centre, with the Supreme Court putting its stamp of approval on the floor test in the Assembly.
The development was a major loss of face for the Modi Government which had dismissed the Congress government and imposed President’s rule after 9 Congress MLAs sided with the BJP on the Appropriation Bill.
