Trinity Church gate was to open 25 days ago
Hyderabad: The gate which was constructed near Trinity Church near the Valerian School last month was supposed to be opened by May 26, according to the first notice put up by the Local Military Authority (LMA) during its construction.
However, the gate has been closed for over 25 days since that date, forcing residents to take long detours.
Connectivity between Bolarum and Yapral has become a challenge for the residents.
The road is used by thousands of people to commute through Balaji nagar, Yapral, Ammuguda, Thirumulgherry, Marredpally and others. However, the LMA says there is an alternative passage which facilitates the thoroughfare nearby.
The passage through Valerian School road is hardly 800 to 1,000 metres, whereas the alternative road through Hakimpet is almost 7-km to 8-km long. The residents who have been inconvenienced question the right of the LMA to build such gates in the middle of the road, restricting access. The military authority has not followed the procedure laid down in section 258 of the Cantonments Act, according to which the opinion of the stakeholders (the public) should also be considered. There are dozens of educational institutes in the Yapral and Bolarum area, and with schools and colleges re-opening, parents are compelled to take longer detours, of up to 9 km in some cases, to drop and pick up their children.
