Kochi: Two Nipah suspects discharged
Kochi: Two out of six Nipah suspects admitted to Isolation ward of the Kalamassery Medical College were discharged on Thursday. Now, only four suspects are in isolation ward whose blood samples have already turned negative for the virus.
Meanwhile, blood sample of another patient was sent for second stage test. The Kalamassery Medical College has received sample of another patient from Medical College, Pariyaram which will be tested for the virus. Condition of the Nipah affected youth who is under treatment in a private hospital has improved and stable now.
The health department authorities have examined the details of all the 1,798 deaths reported in the district in May. But, no Nipah suspected deaths were found.
Training has been given to 4,000 persons on Nipah prevention. The health authorities have already given training on disease prevention to 30,198 persons.
The health authorities have excluded 47 out of the 330 persons, included in contact tracing data, after they showed no symptoms throughout the virus incubation period. The total number of persons under surveillance is 283 including 52 in high-risk group and 231 in low-risk group.
The government will make the official announcement on Nipah-free status only after excluding the last persons from the contact tracing data.
However, disease prevention measures will continue and functioning of the Nipah control room will also be on.
The coordination meeting of the Nipah core committee which was on for last 11 days concluded on Thursday.
