The boy, Muhammad Shan of Perumbarambu near Edappal, died while undergoing treatment at Government Medical College, Thrissur.

Malappuram: The health department has started an awareness campaign and planned a vaccination drive in the Thavanoor and Maranchery panchayats of the district in the wake of the death of a six- year-old boy infected with diphtheria on Tuesday.

The boy, Muhammad Shan of Perumbarambu near Edappal, died while undergoing treatment at Government Medical College, Thrissur. The health department staff have started a campaign in households that kept off the last drive. Malappuram DMO K.
