K Chandrasekhar Rao to inaugurate 120 flats for MLAs

The government constructed the MLAs complex after demolishing the Old Quarters in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: The luxurious apartments constructed to accommodate elected MLAs in Hyderguda in the city will be inaugurated by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on June 17 on the auspicious day of Eruvaka Pournami.

The state government has built 120 air-conditioned flats each having three bedrooms and spread over 2,400 sq ft, at a cost of Rs 166 crore. A club house, office, gym and supermarket are among the other swanky facilities.

The government constructed the MLAs complex after demolishing the Old Quarters in Hyderabad.

A three-storey cellar that can accommodate 240 vehicles, 23 rooms for meetings with visitors on the ground floor and 36 quarters for staff are part of the complex.

These luxury quarters will be allocated to members of the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council if they put in a requisition.

Each flat consists of three bedrooms, a hall and a kitchen, a visitor's space, an office room, a balcony and a drawing room.

The state government pays Rs 25,000 as allowance for the accommodation of members of the Assembly and the Council. Those who seek accommodation in the MLAs Complex will have to forego the allowance.

Monthly water, power and landline telephone bills for each member living in the complex will be paid by the government.

The complex was ready a few months ago, but the model code of conduct in force for the elections prevented it being inaugurated.
