Ibrahimpatnam to be linked to Google Maps for accuracy

The district administration plans to complete the linkage with Google mapping in Ibrahimpatnam mandal within a month.

Vijayawada: The district administration is planning to link agriculture lands to Google Maps as part of a pilot project that will cover Ibrahimpatnam mandal. If successful, the administration will extend the project across the district.

Incidentally, Ibrahimpatnam mandal was also selected by the officials as a pilot project for implementation of the Bhudar programme.

The idea is to complete the land survey and calculate the contours perfectly, obtain accurate dimensions of every landholding in the mandal their borders. The administration will use deferential geographic positioning system and Auto CAD software to achieve this target.

However, shortage of surveyors on the ground is a major hurdle in implementing the project, despite availability of advanced technology. There are 36 pattern surveyors and 28 deputy surveyors in the 53 revenue mandals across the district.

The district administration is planning this Special Super Mapping survey of all the old village pattas to clear the pending applications of land surveys and ensure that disputes over boundaries do not rise again.

The district administration plans to complete the linkage with Google mapping in Ibrahimpatnam mandal within a month.

To push through the project, joint collector Kritika Sukla has directed the surveyors to prepare for the implementation of technology to resolve the boundary disputes. Accordingly, the chief surveyor is preparing the map based on CAD. The officials are holding discussions with software developers and work on the pilot project is expected to start in a few days.

At present, similar mapping is available in Isro’s software ‘Bhuvan’, but the district administration plans to make available the same facility in Google Maps. However, since the local surveyors are unfamiliar with the technology, the officials are trying to contact the engineers employed by the software company.

For this, the district administration also plans to train all surveyors in the district in AutoCAD and also deferential GPS for the perfect mapping.
