E Chandrashekharan bars official from issuing order on land issue

The legal advice came close on the heels of the Opposition allegation that the CM\'s office had intervened in the matter.

Thiruvananthapuram: Revenue Minister E. Chandrashekharan has asked revenue principal secretary V. Venu not to issue any order on the Kunnathunad land filling issue without his prior consent.

The instruction given in writing to Mr Venu also said that all files related to the issue should be routed only through the minister's office.Earlier, the minister received a setback with AG C.P. Sudhakara Prasad informing Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan that the revenue minister's intervention was not legal. The AG also stated that the revenue secretary's order cancelling the stop memo will remain valid. The legal advice came close on the heels of the Opposition allegation that the CM's office had intervened in the matter.

The revenue minister had frozen the order of revenue additional chief secretary P.H. Kurian over-ruling the district collector's stop memo issued against the land filling in Kunnathunad village.
