Chennai: Panic in school as monkey sneaks in

The school authorities spread a net below hoping to catch it.

Chennai: A monkey sneaked into a government higher secondary school in Sothupakkam in Kancheepuram on Wednesday afternoon. Though the monkey did not attack anyone the forest officials faced a lot of difficulties catching it.

According to sources, monkey that entered the school from near Maduranthakam forest area at around 2 pm and created chaos like situation on the premises. Sources said that it went inside classrooms and started throwing books, food and other things of the students.

Sources said the monkey even attacked some of the students. However, Sothupakkam Government school Principal, Vasudevan denied the allegation and claimed the students were immediately evacuated from the school. The school authorities spread a net below hoping to catch it.

As their efforts failed, they sought the help of the Forest department's wildlife wing. The latter set up a trap with 'goodies' which included its favourite bananas, puffed rice and fried gram, but it avoided the trap until Thursday evening.
