2 villages in Nizamabad bar entry of private school buses
NIZAMABAD: Two villages in Nizamabad district have issued an ultimatum to private educational institutions not to send their vehicles to pick up students.
Nagampet in Mupkal mandal has initiated steps in this regard, warning private schools on Thursday. Venkatapur in Makloor mandal is also on the same path. Other villages in Nizamabad and Armoor revenue divisions are planning to discourage families admitting their children in private schools.
Villagers have decided to send their wards to government schools at their doorsteps to utilise the facilities provided by the education department. A few village committees took the decision ahead of the academic year resuming on Wednesday.
The government is providing free textbooks, uniforms and mid-day meals to students and trained teachers are available in state-run schools.
The exorbitant fee structure and forcible sale of text books, note books and uniforms in a few private schools has vexed parents.
Primary school students are forced to travel around 50 km to reach private schools in buses. The bus charges are an additional burden on parents. In this context, a few villagers decided not to encourage private school admissions from their villages.
Speaking to this newspaper, Mr K.Sai Reddy, a parent, said that unity among villagers is a boon for government schools. “Most parents are unable to bear the huge expenses for private school fees,” he said. Government teachers have also assured to teach children in English, he explained.
