Monsoon awaits a nudge in Telangana

According to the IMD, the northern limit of the monsoon was at Karwar, Gadag, and Ongole.

Hyderabad: The southwest monsoon, which has covered southern AP, has not moved further, the IMD said on Monday. No official date on its arrival in Telangana has been given.

“The monsoons does not proceed with the same speed. Sometimes it advances quickly, or it gets delayed at other times. The present condition shows that it has slowed down. It will gain momentum of a low pressure zone forms over the Bay of Bengal,” said Mr. Y.K Reddy of IMD, Hyderabad.

“It is normal variability of the monsoon. There is no time line; atmospheric developments govern the movement of the monsoon,” he said.

He said this was not abnormal. “It will take another 4-5 days (to start moving), if it advances towards the northwest, Telangana state will get rains,” Mr Reddy said. According to the IMD, the northern limit of the monsoon was at Karwar, Gadag, and Ongole.
