Hyderabad: Parents to protest at Amrita school for issuing transfer certificates
Hyderabad: Some of the parents of students from Amrita Vidyalayam School, Secunderabad, are gearing up for a protest on Wednesday against the school’s management for forcibly issuing TCs (transfer certificates) to their children.
Rebutting their charge, the school management said it took the decision as the parents have not paid fees during the last academic year.
These parents approached the JAC on school fee regulation a few days ago and decided to mount pressure on the school to take back their decision.
Swathi, one of the affected parents, said that parents were waging a fight against the school management for fees hike over last few years.
“Earlier the annual fee was in the range of Rs 10,000 for primary sections. Now it has been doubled. For higher classes it is in the range of '40,000 per annum. We raised our voice against the fee hike and stated in no uncertain terms that we will not pay the enhanced fee,” she added.
While this issue is being heard in the court, the school management issued TCs without parents’ consent and sent them by post, she said. “It is against this backdrop we sought the help of JAC, which readily agreed to support our fight,” she said.
Meanwhile, the school management defended the action. A member alleged indiscipline on the part of the parents as well as harassment of school teachers, which compelled this move.
“The fee we charge is the lowest among most CBSE schools in the city. Their actions are not justified because they did not pay the entire fee amount in the last year,” a management representative said.
